What surprised Pete this summer?

Well what surprised me this summer?
I always enjoy my coaching and the childrens’ matches for Rainton Cricket Club, also my cricket camps. Fabulous children!

What I didn’t fully anticipate was the level of pride I would feel when a number of youngsters that joined our newly formed junior section in 2017 started to play senior cricket!

They have to be in year 8 to do that and SEVEN of them, including one girl, played their first senior match this season for Rainton 2s, with one of them playing virtually every match, and all in crisp clean whites. And I get that same pride when I see other youngsters that I have coached playing for other teams, which happened last Saturday.

It’s a huge team effort with 9 others also volunteering their time at Rainton Monday evening training and for junior matches, and I am sure they too are proud. A fabulous bunch!
