New Junior members wanted at Rainton CC
Pete started a junior section at Rainton CC in 2017 that practices from 6pm on a Monday evening during the season.
The club entered teams in the Theakston Nidderdale Junior Cricket League for the first time in 2021 and put an under 11 (years 5 and 6) eight a side team into the league and also an under 13 (years seven and eight) eight a side team. The under 9s played some friendly matches. The U11s won more than half of their matches and the U13s won their league!
To continue its progress the club is having built a new double bay practice net facility. Planning permission was approved by Harrogate Council in April 2021 and a grant funding request was submitted to FCC Communities Foundation in May 2021. We are delighted to say that this was approved and therefore that the two week long build is planned to commence in April 2022 once the field is dry enough to for construction to be completed.
Indoor nets/training in preparation for the 2022 season has commenced for adults and for U11s and upwards in the sports hall at Ripon Grammar School. It will take place on Sundays from 5pm to 6pm each Sunday from 6 February to and including 10 April.
Outdoor summer practice for all juniors from school year 2 upwards will be Monday each week and commence on Monday 25 April running until 7pm for up to school year 4 and until 7.30 for school year 5 and upwards. It will continue until a date tba in August. Annual subscriptions for juniors are £35 however youngsters are welcome to come along for 2/3 sessions to see if they want to continue before any payment is required.
New years 5 to 8 children are welcome at the Sunday sessions at Ripon Grammar School (£1 pw collected as one amount eg £7 if 7 sessions left) and then years 2 to 8 on a Monday from 25 April.
Lead junior coaches are all ECB qualified and both the coaches and regular helpers are DBS checked.
