Anyone who has known Pete for a while knows how proud he gets when youngsters that he has coached do well. This is Upperthong Cricket Club under 17s who won Huddersfield Junior League’s Philip Oldfield Cup in a tense final over finish on Monday. Pete coached nine of them several years ago.
Pete had a fabulous week working for the Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy. The ground staff there are so helpful and cut a strip and the rest of this pitch (with stripes both ways!) for the children to play a match on. Pete did not know who was more excited, him.

Pete worked this spring and summer for the first time with Alverton Community Primary School in Northallerton. He worked for 5 sessions with each of two different classes, ran an after school club and helped choose the squad for the annual inter school Kwik Cricket competition. Pete then ran a special.
Pete was the first coach for Ella Harris for 3 seasons from age 7 to 9 at the wonderful Upperthong CC. This is a photo that her Mum Alison took last month when Ella was playing for Yorkshire Girls U15 team. Pete is thrilled at the progress she has made and.
Pete is delighted to announce his Spring and Summer 2016 schedule of Junior Cricket Coaching and Fun Days to be held at Rainton CC, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire and also at Upperthong CC, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. There will be fun drills, games and matches. Each day will run from 10am until 4pm.
I bumped into Ben and his Dad a couple of days ago – when Ben was practicing cricket of course – and his Dad said that Ben had been asked about his availability on certain dates this summer to represent Yorkshire at his age group. I was delighted to hear this.
“Oscar really enjoyed the session today – he is looking forward to the next one!” said his Mum Andrea Hardcastle after he attended one of Pete’s coaching and fun days in Ripon. “Freddie had a great day! The wicketkeepers in this photograph are at the ready as part of a target bowling drill on my course at half term. 31 children attended over the two days of the course. My next courses run on Wednesday 30 (now full) and Thursday 31 March 2016 (some spaces available) in.
